Distribution area

In Vietnam, the plant area of durians is about 30000 ha (in 2018) mainly in the provinces of Tay Ninh, Binh Duong, Tien Giang, and Dak Lak. The two varieties of durian that are widely grown are the Ri 6 durian and the Thai Monthong durian.

Features of the durian tree

Durian trees over 10 years old can give 60-80 fruits per year. The most suitable time to plant durian is from May to August. Durian blooms in March-April and can harvest around May-September. The durian fruit growth is rapid from the 5th to the 13th week, then slows down. In the 16th week, the fruit is ripe.

Durian is not easy to take care of due to its high environmental sensitivity. Durian trees are often attacked by fungi, causing many different diseases such as canker disease and leaf spot.
